Glossop Creates champions creativity across the Glossop valley – from visual art and music to food, storytelling, and everyday acts of making. We support artists, communities and organisations to bring creative projects to life and celebrate the culture of our town and its surroundings.

Wander is an ongoing project exploring creativity through walking – inviting people to move through the landscape more slowly, with curiosity and care. Each Wander offers a different way of experiencing Glossop: through photography, poetry, local history, or the sensory richness of the natural world.

This postcard features Whitfield Cross, an image chosen by archaeologist and writer Dr Tim Campbell-Green, taken from his wander From Bees to Bulls. Tim’s route explores ancient paths, hidden field systems and overlooked clues from Glossop’s deep past – a walk through time layered underfoot.

The image shows Whitfield Cross, a weathered stone thought to be Anglo-Saxon, standing at a quiet rural crossroads. For Tim, it marks not just a turning point in the walk, but a physical link between generations of people who passed the same way.

Printed in the UK using sustainably sourced materials.

All profits support Glossop Creates and our work with artists, makers and the creative community in the Glossop valley.
